Kicking things off…

I am James “Everett” Zuraw, a freelance photographer based out of the Southeastern United States. Currently residing in Greenville, SC.

I earned a BA in Architecture from Clemson University (grad. May of 2018).

My interest in photography, and general creative design, was elevated while working at the student-run Clemson radio station, WSBF 88.1 FM. While loosely holding the role of Music Director, I also worked as part of a team as a videographer / photographer for bands that came through the station for ‘live’ sessions. Concurrently submitting written and visual works to The Chronicle, the student-run literary magazine of Clemson University.

After graduating, I began to photograph bands in the Charleston scene. Starting out at small and mid-sized venues, working to shoot larger shows. Though remaining local, I often travel to Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, and Columbia for concerts and other events.

Since 2023, I have shot Patrick Davis’ ‘Songwriters In Paradise’ event in Napa Valley (St. Helena) and Healdsburg, California. I also shot stills for the first season of “Southern Songwriters with Patrick Davis”.

I also shot for The Psycodelics, a Charleston-based Funk-Rock band, from 2022 to 2025. Some of my work can be seen in “The Psycodelics The Movie” and on their debut album “Please Keep Off the Grass”.

Work(s)

My goal is to treat photos as frozen moments in time. Creating works that can be used for reference (documentation) and/or reverence (reflections of that moment), depending on the objective of a client.

Through concert photography I seek to capture the live experience: the atmosphere, the audience, and band(s) in the moment.

Through portrait photography, my goal is to capture the subject(s) through a creative light, based on available tools and locale (whether outside or in a studio environment).

My illustrations and fine art photography are expressions of self through observation of the surrounding world.
I began the “Memento Mori” series in 2017. I started the series of drawings, based on the West Virginia Flatwoods Monster, back in 2021.
